This 7-day challenge guides you through the process of writing a song with a specific listener in mind, from concept and lyrical detail to a finished demo ready to connect.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Define your ideal fan. Create a one-paragraph profile describing their hopes, fears, and what they seek from music.
- Day 2Brainstorm a central lyrical hook and song title that speaks directly to the person you defined on Day 1.
- Day 3Use an AI tool to generate three different chord progressions for your hook. Select the one that best fits the mood and build out a verse-chorus structure. (Ref: AI for Musicians guide).
- Day 4Write the full lyric, focusing on specific, sensory details that bring your ideal fan's world to life.
- Day 5Record a raw voice memo. Listen back and gut-check its Emotional Resonance. Does it feel honest? Does it evoke the specific emotion you intended? Share with one trusted peer for feedback.
- Day 6Refine the lyric and melody based on your reflection and peer feedback. Elevate the emotional clarity.
- Day 7Record a clean, simple demo (e.g., guitar/vocal). This finished asset is your 'true fan anthem'.
