The Sync-Ready Asset

Prepare one song for sync licensing and create a professional pitch package in 5 days.

This challenge guides you through the essential steps of making a song 'sync-ready,' transforming a creative work into a licensable asset ready for discovery by music supervisors.

The plan, day by day

  1. Day 1Select one song. Confirm its copyright registration and its registration with your PRO (e.g., ASCAP, BMI). If not done, begin the process. Create an instrumental and a clean (no profanity) version.
  2. Day 2Define the song's Emotional Resonance: Write a one-sentence 'emotional logline' describing the core feeling and ideal scene for your song. Example: 'Hopeful melancholy for a character leaving their hometown.'
  3. Day 3Leverage AI for Metadata: Following the 'AI for Musicians' guide, use an AI tool to generate 25 descriptive keywords for your song. Include mood, genre, instrumentation, and potential use-cases ('opening credits,' 'workout,' 'love scene').
  4. Day 4Create a 'One-Sheet' PDF. Include the song title, your artist name, contact information, PRO affiliation, and the emotional logline and keywords from the previous days.
  5. Day 5Organize your final package into a cloud folder (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive) with a shareable link. The folder should contain: the full song, instrumental, clean version (all as high-quality WAV/MP3), and your One-Sheet PDF.
