The Song Value Audit
Spend five days pressure-testing the intrinsic value of your most important asset: the song.
This challenge moves you from songwriter to asset manager. You will deconstruct, analyze, and refine one of your songs to maximize its inherent artistic and commercial value before a single dollar sign is attached.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Select one of your completed songs. Write a one-paragraph 'Value Proposition' describing its ideal listener and the core feeling it is meant to evoke.
- Day 2Pressure-test your song's emotional clarity. Play the song for a trusted peer without providing any context. Ask them to describe the feeling it creates in three words. Compare their response to your Day 1 proposition.
- Day 3Use an AI chat tool to act as a music supervisor. Feed it your song's lyrics and your Day 1 Value Proposition. Ask it to generate three hypothetical sync placement scenarios where the song would be a perfect fit.
- Day 4Identify the weakest section of your song (lyrically or melodically). Spend a 60-minute session rewriting it with the specific goal of amplifying its core emotional message. No other goal matters.
- Day 5Revise your Day 1 Value Proposition based on your work this week. Is the song's value clearer? Is it more potent? This revised statement is the foundation for its future pricing.
