This challenge guides you through a full audit of a single released song, checking its registration with your PRO, The MLC, and preparing it for sync opportunities.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1: PRO Registration CheckLog into your PRO account. Search for one of your released songs in your catalog. Verify that the writers and their percentage splits are 100% accurate. If not, submit a correction.
- Day 2: The MLC PortalVisit The MLC's public song search portal. Look up your song. Confirm that it is registered and linked to your publisher (or you, if self-published). If not, contact your publishing administrator.
- Day 3: AI-Powered Metadata TaggingUse an AI tool to analyze your song's audio or lyrics. Generate 15 descriptive keywords (e.g., 'wistful,' 'driving indie rock,' '90s female vocal'). Add these tags to your catalog spreadsheet for this song.
- Day 4: The Emotional Resonance PitchWrite a one-sentence 'emotional pitch' for your song. Example: 'For a scene where the main character feels a surge of defiant hope.' This crystallizes its sync potential.
- Day 5: ISRC-to-ISWC LinkIn your publishing admin account or catalog spreadsheet, ensure the ISRC of your master recording is linked to the ISWC (the composition's identifier). This is a critical data connection for royalty tracking.
