The plan, day by day

1. Day 1Verify your affiliation with a PRO (e.g., ASCAP, BMI). If you are not yet a member, start the application. This is your top priority.
2. Day 2Log in to your PRO portal and register your top three original compositions. Ensure all songwriter names and ownership splits are entered correctly.
3. Day 3Register for a SoundExchange account. This is how you collect digital performance royalties for your master recordings. It is separate from your PRO.
4. Day 4Research three publishing administration services. Using the checklist from the Getting Paid academy course, compare their fees, terms, and services.
5. Day 5Create a master catalog spreadsheet. For each song, list the title, writers, splits, ISRC (for the master), and ISWC (for the composition). This is your central source of truth.
