This 2-day challenge puts your master to the ultimate test: a real-world playlist. Analyze how your track sonically and emotionally fits with others to pre-emptively identify issues that could cause skips.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Identify two editorial or popular user-generated playlists you are targeting. Use an AI playlist analysis tool ('AI for Musicians' guide) to analyze their average LUFS and dynamic range. Note how your own master's specs compare.
- Day 2Create a new playlist on your streaming service of choice. Sequence your track between 4-5 songs pulled directly from your target playlists. Listen to the entire sequence on earbuds, then in a car. Does your song feel jarring or seamless? Does its Emotional Resonance complement the others? Be honest.
