The Music Publishing CEO Blueprint
Draft a mini-business plan for the publishing arm of your artist career.
This 5-day challenge guides you in thinking like a business owner, outlining the mission, assets, and strategy for your own personal publishing company.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Write a one-paragraph mission statement for your publishing entity (e.g., 'To build and manage a world-class catalog of emotionally potent songs for film and television.').
- Day 2Create an 'Asset Sheet' listing your top 5-10 compositions. For each, note its status (e.g., Unreleased, Released, Registered) and its primary genre or mood.
- Day 3Use an AI business tool to generate a simple outline of your publishing goals for the next 12 months. Specify targets like 'Write 10 new songs' or 'Secure 1 sync placement'.
- Day 4For each song on your Day 2 asset sheet, write a one-sentence 'Emotional Value Proposition.' What specific feeling or situation is this asset perfect for?
- Day 5Draft a 'Team' slide. List the roles you currently fill (e.g., CEO, Songwriter). Then list the next 1-2 roles you need to 'hire' for (e.g., Publishing Administrator, Sync Agent).
