The 3-Day Lyric Editing Sprint
Take a finished lyric from 'good enough' to undeniable.
This challenge forces you to revisit a completed lyric with a critical eye. You will identify the weakest links and systematically replace them with lines that are more specific, evocative, and emotionally resonant.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Choose one of your finished songs. Print the lyrics. Circle the three weakest lines—the clichés, the vague statements, the awkward phrases.
- Day 2For each weak line, use an AI tool (as detailed in our 'AI for Musicians' guide) to generate 10 alternative phrasings. Focus your prompts on sensory details and stronger verbs.
- Day 3Select the best new option for each of the three lines. Record a simple voice memo of the new version. Send it to one trusted peer and ask, 'Which version makes you feel more?' This is your emotional resonance test.
