The ISRC & Alternate Version Audit
Organize the master versions and identifiers for one key release.
This challenge walks you through the process of cataloging every version of a single song, preparing the necessary identifiers, and defining the strategic value of each asset.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Choose one of your released songs. Create a list of every master version that exists for it (e.g., Streaming Master, Instrumental, Acapella, Radio Edit, Vinyl Master).
- Day 2Use an AI spreadsheet assistant to organize this list. Create columns for Version Name, File Name, and ISRC. If you do not have ISRCs for each, assign a temporary, unique placeholder for your internal records.
- Day 3For each version, write a one-sentence 'Emotional Use Case.' For example, 'Acoustic Version: Intimate and vulnerable, for sync in a relationship drama.' This reframes each technical file as a strategic asset with a unique resonant purpose.
