The Hook-as-a-Business Model

Architect a one-page business plan for your most valuable asset.

This 4-day challenge guides you through creating a concise business strategy centered on the creation, branding, and monetization of your hooks as core intellectual property.

The plan, day by day

  1. Day 1: Define Your Sonic BrandBased on the hooks you tend to write, define your brand's core emotional product in a single sentence. 'My music makes people feel [emotion] by using hooks that are [adjective] and [adjective].' This is your Emotional Resonance promise.
  2. Day 2: AI-Powered Market ResearchUse an AI tool with this prompt: 'I write [genre] music. Identify the top 3 emotional themes in hooks that are successful in sync licensing for this genre.' Use this data from the 'AI for Musicians' guide to inform your targets.
  3. Day 3: Diversify Revenue StreamsBeyond streaming, list three concrete ways you will monetize your hooks. Examples: 'Pitching melancholic hooks to drama TV supervisors,' 'Creating a sample pack of my rhythmic hooks,' 'Offering co-writing services for topline hooks.'
  4. Day 4: Create an Action PlanFor each revenue stream identified on Day 3, write one specific, actionable next step you can take this month. Example: 'Identify and email three music libraries that specialize in my genre.'
