This 5-day sprint guides you through refining one key song into a polished, compelling demo. You will analyze its structural and emotional strengths to build an irrefutable case for its value, preparing it as a centerpiece for any pitch or negotiation.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Select your strongest unreleased song. Write a single sentence defining its core emotional thesis—the primary feeling you want a listener to experience.
- Day 2Using an AI tool (per the 'AI for Musicians' guide), analyze your lyrics for clichés, repetitive phrasing, and clarity. Rewrite at least one verse or the chorus for greater impact.
- Day 3Record a new demo focusing exclusively on the performance. Capture a vocal and primary instrument take that perfectly embodies the song's emotional core.
- Day 4A/B test the new demo against the old one with a trusted peer. Ask them: 'What one word describes how this song makes you feel?' Evaluate if their answer aligns with your Day 1 thesis.
- Day 5Write a one-paragraph 'asset summary' for the song. Describe its target audience, emotional hook, and potential for sync or marketing, treating it as a valuable piece of IP.
