This 3-day challenge focuses on the intersection of song structure and publishing. You will learn to analyze contributions, draft a clear split sheet, and articulate the value of your work.

The plan, day by day

1. Day 1Listen to a popular co-written song. Based on interviews or liner notes, hypothesize how the publishing splits might have been divided based on structural contributions.
2. Day 2Using an AI assistant, draft a sample split sheet for a fictional collaboration. Prompt it to include fields for 'Contribution Type' (e.g., Verse 1 Lyrics, Chorus Melody) next to each writer's name and percentage.
3. Day 3Take one of your own co-written songs (or a song you wrote alone). Identify its single most emotionally resonant section. Write a short paragraph defending why that section's author deserves a specific percentage of the publishing.
