This guided sprint walks you through the essential steps of registering one of your songs with a PRO and a publishing administrator. Move from confusion to a fully registered, royalty-collecting asset.

The plan, day by day

1. 1Confirm your PRO affiliation is active. If unaffiliated, begin the application process today. Locate your IPI/CAE number.
2. 2Compile all required metadata for one song: final title, all writers with their IPI numbers, and finalized ownership splits.
3. 3Log in to your PRO portal and formally register the song using the metadata compiled yesterday.
4. 4Research three publishing administrators. Compare their services, fees, and terms. Select the one that best fits your career goals.
5. 5Begin the affiliation process with your chosen publishing administrator. This may involve signing an agreement and setting up your account.
6. 6Register your song within your new publishing administrator's portal. They will require the same metadata you used for the PRO.
7. 7Set a calendar reminder for 30 days from now to log in to both portals and confirm the registration has been successfully processed and accepted.
