The plan, day by day
- Day 1Confirm your writer and publisher affiliations with a PRO. If you are not yet a member, research the options and begin the application process.
- Day 2Choose one of your released songs. Log in to your PRO portal and confirm it is registered correctly, with all co-writers and splits accurately listed. Document its IPI/CAE number.
- Day 3Use an AI assistant to draft a clear, professional email to a hypothetical co-writer requesting their IPI number and confirming their publishing information for a new registration.
- Day 4If you have a publishing administrator, confirm the same song is registered in their portal. If not, research two administrators and compare their services for your needs.
- Day 5Re-evaluate the song's potential for sync licensing. Is its emotional resonance specific and powerful enough for film or TV? This will determine the importance of the publishing admin's role.
