The Rights Audit
Ensure your almost-finished track is legally ready for release.
In this 2-day challenge, you will conduct a full rights audit on one of your tracks currently being mixed. You will identify all contributors, create necessary agreements, and ensure your master recording is legally unencumbered.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Contributor Mapping. Listen to your track and list every single person who contributed to the sound recording (performers, producers, engineers). Draft a split sheet that allocates ownership percentages for the master.
- Day 2AI-Drafted Agreement & Emotional Check. Use an AI contract generator to draft a simple producer or work-for-hire agreement for one collaborator. Then, identify the most emotionally vital performance in the track and confirm that creator is satisfied with their credit and compensation.
