Take a song from demo to a registration-ready asset in one week.

This challenge guides you through the final creative and administrative steps to prepare a single song for official registration. You will refine its craft, confirm its emotional impact, and prepare the necessary documentation.

The plan, day by day

1. Day 1Perform a structural audit. Map your song's sections (verse, chorus, bridge) and analyze its flow and energy.
2. Day 2Conduct a lyrical deep dive. Scrutinize every line for impact, clarity, and cliché. Rewrite at least four lines.
3. Day 3 (Emotional Resonance)Play your most current demo for one trusted person. Ask them to name the single, primary emotion they feel. Note if it aligns with your intent.
4. Day 4Record a clean, simple demo (guitar/vocal or piano/vocal). This becomes the definitive version of the composition.
5. Day 5 (AI Leverage)Using the "AI for Musicians" guide, prompt an AI to act as a music journalist and write a one-paragraph review of your lyrics. Use its feedback to spot weaknesses.
6. Day 6Draft your split sheet. List all co-writers and agree on the ownership percentages in writing. This is a non-negotiable step.
7. Day 7Compile your final assets: the clean demo MP3, the final lyric sheet, and the signed split sheet. Your song is now ready for registration.
