Map Your Music Enterprise
Draft the foundational documents of your artist business in five days.
This challenge shifts your perspective from musician to business owner. You will map your potential revenue, create a simple financial statement, and define your business's mission, setting the stage for long-term, sustainable growth.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1On a whiteboard or in a notebook, map out every possible revenue stream for your artist project. Divide them into 'Active,' 'Ready to Activate,' and 'Future.' Be exhaustive.
- 2Create a simple Profit & Loss (P&L) spreadsheet. List all your music-related income and expenses from the past 90 days. Calculate your net profit or loss. This is your company's current financial health.
- 3Write a one-page 'Artist Business Plan.' Include three sections: Mission (your 'why'), Target Audience (your ideal fan), and 12-Month Financial Goal (a specific, measurable revenue target).
- 4Use an AI tool as your marketing assistant. Prompt it: 'Write a 150-word artist biography for a press kit. My brand is [describe brand vibe] and my music sounds like [describe sound].' Refine the result into your official bio.
- 5Conduct a brand resonance audit. Look at your Spotify profile, Instagram bio, and website homepage side-by-side. Do they communicate a single, consistent emotional message? Write down three concrete changes to improve alignment.
