Challenge: Build Your Sync Rate Card
Define the licensing value of your music in 3 days.
Research industry standards and analyze your own music to create a professional, one-page rate card outlining baseline sync fees for your catalog.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Research baseline sync fees. Use an AI research assistant to search for 'indie artist sync license fees' for different uses (e.g., podcast, YouTube, indie film, web ad). Create a simple table of low-end and high-end ranges.
- Day 2Define your emotional value. Select three of your songs. For each, write a one-paragraph 'Emotional Brief' that describes the mood, scene, and feeling it conveys. This justifies your pricing to a music supervisor.
- Day 3Draft your rate card. Create a one-page document listing your name, contact info, and tiered pricing for at least three usage types (e.g., 'Non-Commercial Web,' 'Independent Film,' 'Commercial Ad - 1 Year').
