Challenge: Build Your Sync Rate Card

Define the licensing value of your music in 3 days.

Research industry standards and analyze your own music to create a professional, one-page rate card outlining baseline sync fees for your catalog.

The plan, day by day

  1. Day 1Research baseline sync fees. Use an AI research assistant to search for 'indie artist sync license fees' for different uses (e.g., podcast, YouTube, indie film, web ad). Create a simple table of low-end and high-end ranges.
  2. Day 2Define your emotional value. Select three of your songs. For each, write a one-paragraph 'Emotional Brief' that describes the mood, scene, and feeling it conveys. This justifies your pricing to a music supervisor.
  3. Day 3Draft your rate card. Create a one-page document listing your name, contact info, and tiered pricing for at least three usage types (e.g., 'Non-Commercial Web,' 'Independent Film,' 'Commercial Ad - 1 Year').
