Assemble Your Professional Rights Sheet

Create the one-page document that makes sync agents and publishers take you seriously.

In this 5-day challenge, you will gather, organize, and format the essential copyright and publishing information for your key tracks into a professional, pitch-ready one-sheet.

The plan, day by day

  1. Day 1Choose your top three licensable songs. Create a document and, for each song, list every credited songwriter and their publisher (if any).
  2. Day 2Contact any co-writers to confirm their PRO (e.g., ASCAP, BMI, SESAC) and IPI number. Confirm your own. Add this data to your document next to each writer's name and split percentage.
  3. Day 3Leverage AI. Use an AI writing tool to draft a clear, one-paragraph 'Master & Publishing' statement. Prompt: 'Write a professional statement for a music press kit confirming that I, [Your Name/Entity], control 100% of the master recording rights for my songs, and that the publishing rights are held by the listed writers.'
  4. Day 4Check for emotional resonance. For each of the three songs on your sheet, add a single line describing its mood and tempo (e.g., 'Hopeful, mid-tempo folk-pop with soaring vocals'). This helps a supervisor immediately understand its use case.
  5. Day 5Format all information into a clean, single-page PDF. Title it '[Artist Name] - Copyright One-Sheet.' Add a link to this document in your main press kit.
