This challenge walks you through the essential administrative tasks to complete before any release, ensuring your rights are protected and your royalties are ready to be collected from day one.

The plan, day by day

1. 1Split Sheet Finalization. Send a split sheet to all co-writers and producers. Get digital signatures from everyone. Store it securely.
2. 2Work Registration. Register the composition with your PRO and The MLC. Register the master recording with SoundExchange. Confirm all collaborator information is identical.
3. 3Emotional Resonance Metadata. Identify the 3 primary moods of your song (e.g., 'Reflective', 'Hopeful', 'Driving'). Write these into your metadata file. This is for sync pitching.
4. 4AI Metadata Audit. Use an AI tool to act as a 'Publishing Assistant.' Provide it your song title, artist name, and ISRC. Ask it to generate a complete metadata checklist for your distributor and flag any missing fields.
5. 5Pre-Distribution Checklist. Consolidate your ISRC, ISWC, final master, artwork, and metadata into a single folder. Run through the checklist in our 'Publishing Simplified' guide. You are now admin-ready.
