The Catalog Data Audit
Find the leaks in your catalog and plug them for good.
Over 3 days, conduct a comprehensive audit of one of your released songs. You will verify its registration, clean up its metadata, and prime it for organic discovery opportunities like sync.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Rights Verification. Select one song. Log in to your PRO (ASCAP, BMI, etc.) and publisher portals. Verify that the song is registered with the correct writers, publisher info, and ownership splits.
- Day 2AI Metadata Enrichment. Use an AI tool (as discussed in 'AI for Musicians') to analyze your track. Generate a list of 10-15 descriptive keywords related to mood, instrumentation, and genre (e.g., 'pensive piano,' 'driving 80s synth,' 'inspirational female vocal'). Update your metadata in your distribution and sync libraries.
- Day 3Emotional Resonance Pitch. Based on the song's core feeling ('Emotional Resonance' guide), write a one-sentence pitch for a music supervisor. Example: 'This is a hopeful, anthemic track perfect for a character's triumphant turning point.' Save this pitch with your track's assets.
