The Catalog Cohesion Challenge

Map your musical world and find the missing piece.

In five days, you will audit your existing song catalog for thematic and emotional connections, then use those insights to outline a new song that bridges the gaps and strengthens your artistic universe.

The plan, day by day

1. Day 1Catalog Audit. List all your released songs. For each, write a one-sentence summary of its core lyrical theme and primary emotion (e.g., 'Hopeful melancholy,' 'Defiant optimism').
2. Day 2Thematic Mapping. Group the songs from Day 1 into 2-3 thematic clusters. Identify the dominant emotional palette of your catalog. Where are the gaps? What story isn't being told?
3. Day 3AI Ideation. Using a tool from our 'AI for Musicians' guide, input the themes of two different clusters. Prompt the AI to generate five potential song concepts or lyrical starting points that could connect these two worlds.
4. Day 4Emotional Resonance Test. Choose the strongest AI-generated concept. Outline the song's structure (verse, chorus, bridge) and define the specific emotional journey you want the listener to take. Does this journey feel authentic to you?
5. Day 5Write the Hook. Draft the lyrics and melody for the chorus of your new, connective song. The goal is to create a hook that feels both fresh and like a natural extension of your existing work.
