The Product Margin Calculator
Move from guesswork to financial clarity by calculating the true profit margin on one of your offerings.
This one-day, tactical exercise guides you through calculating the real-world costs and potential profit of a single piece of merchandise, empowering you to make sustainable financial decisions.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Select one physical product (e.g., t-shirt, vinyl). List every associated cost: unit manufacturing cost (COGS), design fees (per unit), payment processor fees (%), platform fees (%), and shipping materials cost. Sum these to find your 'Total Cost Per Unit.' Now, set a realistic 'Retail Price.' Subtract the Total Cost from the Retail Price to find your 'Net Profit Per Unit.' Finally, divide Net Profit by the Retail Price to find your 'Profit Margin %'.
