Build Your Sync Business Blueprint

In 5 days, lay the foundational structure of your sync licensing operation.

This challenge tasks you with creating the core documents and systems for running your music catalog as a professional, sync-focused business. You will move from thinking like an artist to operating like a CEO.

The plan, day by day

  1. Day 1Create a master Catalog Tracker in a spreadsheet. Columns must include: Song Title, Mood/Keywords, Co-writers, Master Owner, Publishing Status (One-Stop?), and a link to the asset folder.
  2. Day 2Draft your 'Sync Business Bio.' A single paragraph describing your musical style, the emotions you specialize in, and your professionalism (e.g., 'one-stop catalog'). This is for your website and EPK.
  3. Day 3(AI Step) Using the 'AI for Musicians' guide, command an AI assistant to 'Act as a music supervisor's research assistant and find 10 sync agencies that specialize in indie-folk music for TV dramas.' Replace the genre/format with your own.
  4. Day 4(Emotional Resonance Step) For your top 3 songs in your catalog tracker, write a 'Placement Pitch' for each: one sentence describing the song's feeling and the ideal scene (e.g., 'An anthemic chorus for a team's championship win.').
  5. Day 5Create a simple 'Reinvestment Plan.' In a document, outline how you would allocate a hypothetical $10,000 sync fee across three categories: Production, Marketing/Networking, and Business Savings.
