The Co-Writing Voice Challenge
Master collaborative sessions with a framework that protects your artistic identity.
This 3-day challenge provides a step-by-step process for preparing for, executing, and finalizing a collaborative project. Learn to protect your voice while building powerful songs with others. You will emerge with a repeatable system for successful co-writing.
The plan, day by day
- Day 1Craft Your Session Brief. Create a one-page document for an upcoming or hypothetical co-write. Define the song's goal, lyrical themes, three sonic non-negotiables, and three reference tracks that embody your vision.
- Day 2Execute a Micro-Session. With a collaborator, work on a single song section (verse or chorus) for 45 minutes. Before starting, define your roles. Practice the 'Veto and Propose' rule at least once. Record the results.
- Day 3Conduct the Solo Re-Alignment. Take the recording from Day 2. Work alone for 60 minutes. Your objective is not to rewrite, but to refine. Make 3-5 small, surgical changes that bring the collaborative idea closer to your core artistic voice. Document the changes and the reasoning.
