The Co-Writing Voice Challenge

Master collaborative sessions with a framework that protects your artistic identity.

This 3-day challenge provides a step-by-step process for preparing for, executing, and finalizing a collaborative project. Learn to protect your voice while building powerful songs with others. You will emerge with a repeatable system for successful co-writing.

The plan, day by day

  1. Day 1Craft Your Session Brief. Create a one-page document for an upcoming or hypothetical co-write. Define the song's goal, lyrical themes, three sonic non-negotiables, and three reference tracks that embody your vision.
  2. Day 2Execute a Micro-Session. With a collaborator, work on a single song section (verse or chorus) for 45 minutes. Before starting, define your roles. Practice the 'Veto and Propose' rule at least once. Record the results.
  3. Day 3Conduct the Solo Re-Alignment. Take the recording from Day 2. Work alone for 60 minutes. Your objective is not to rewrite, but to refine. Make 3-5 small, surgical changes that bring the collaborative idea closer to your core artistic voice. Document the changes and the reasoning.
